Judge Cameron McGowan Currie dismissed the federal bank-fraud indictment against New York Attorney General Letitia James on 24 November 2025, holding that interim U.S. Attorney Lindsey Halligan was unlawfully appointed and so lacked authority to obtain it. DOJ appealed on 19 December 2025 and the Fourth Circuit hears argument on 15 September 2026 in No. 25-4673, consolidated with the Comey appeal No. 25-4674. Settles YES only if that court's own docketed disposition sets the dismissal aside; no decision by 28 February 2027, or revival by any other route such as a fresh indictment, settles NO.
