LSU still left all three off its 105-man roster for the 5 September opener and beat Clemson 51-10 without them; Lane Kiffin cited the SEC's threat to suspend him and cut half the football budget. Two roster spots were held open. Harris says he will be ready for Ole Miss on 19 September, Cotton was never added, and the SEC is appealing while pressing a federal suit in Alabama.
